Planning a Bali trip from Nepal
What a Nepali passport holder has to arrange for Bali, in the order it happens: when to go, where to stay, the visa, the two online forms, and the money. Entry rules change, so each rule here links to the official page it comes from.

Questions
Bali trip questions, answered
Yes. Bali is part of Indonesia, and a Nepali passport needs Indonesia's C1 tourist e-visa, approved before you fly. There is no visa on arrival for Nepali citizens, and the airline checks for the visa at the counter in Kathmandu. The government fee is IDR 1,000,000, about NPR 8,600, and the visa allows a stay of up to 60 days. We apply for it with every Bali trip we book.
Three costs make up the trip: the package, the flight and the visa. The package prices on this page cover everything inside Bali, per person. The flight is the largest and most changeable part, because every route from Kathmandu to Bali connects in another city. The e-visa is about NPR 8,600 and the Bali tourist levy about NPR 1,300. Tell us your dates and we quote all three together.
No. Every journey connects, most often in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok or Singapore, and takes most of a day each way. We look for one ticket that covers both flights, so that the airline has to rebook you if the first flight is late.
Five days is the shortest trip that works, and it covers one area well. With six or seven days you can stay in both Ubud and a beach area and still take the day trip to Nusa Penida. Remember that the journey from Kathmandu takes most of a day each way.
April to October is the dry season and the best weather. July and August are the busiest and most expensive months. November to March is the rainy season, with heavy showers on most afternoons and lower hotel prices. Flights from Kathmandu cost most around Dashain and Tihar, whatever the weather in Bali.
At least USD 2,000 in your own account for the three months before you apply. The rule is set in dollars, so NPR 3,00,000 can fall short when the rupee is weak. Keep NPR 3,10,000 or more. A large deposit made just before applying does not help.
A charge of IDR 150,000, about NPR 1,300, that every foreign visitor to Bali pays once per visit. It is separate from the visa. You pay it online on the Love Bali site before you travel and show the QR code if asked. Our package prices do not include it.
Yes, and it is the trip couples from Nepal ask us for most. Villas with a private pool cost less in Bali than in most beach destinations, and hotels arrange floating breakfasts, couple's spa treatments and candlelight dinners on the beach. Our honeymoon package splits the week between an Ubud pool villa and the coast.
Yes. Bali is a Hindu island and vegetarian dishes are on most menus. Indian restaurants are easy to find in Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Ubud. They are fewer on Nusa Penida and the Gili Islands, so tell us when you book and we choose hotels that can cook for you.
Yes. Nusa Penida is about 40 minutes by fast boat from Sanur and works as a day trip or a two-night stay. The Gili Islands, off Lombok, need at least two nights. Your Indonesian visa covers them all. Every trip here is a starting point, and we requote the land price for any change.
