Dashain & Tihar Tour Packages from Nepal 2026: Where You Can Still Go Abroad

Travel Nepal HolidaysOctober 2, 2026

Looking for a Dashain or Tihar tour package from Nepal? You can still travel abroad in 2026. Singapore and the Maldives need no visa before you fly, so they work even for a trip before Tika. Thailand, the most popular choice, now fits Tihar better than Dashain, because the visa takes at least seven working days.

The table shows which destination fits your dates. You can also browse all our international tour packages.

When are Dashain and Tihar in 2026?

Dashain starts with Ghatasthapana on Sunday 11 October. Phulpati is on Saturday 17 October and Tika is on Wednesday 21 October. Government offices are closed from 17 to 23 October.

Tihar runs from 7 to 11 November, with Laxmi Puja on Sunday 8 November and Bhai Tika on Wednesday 11 November. Government offices are closed from 8 to 12 November.

Embassies close too, which slows visas. The Royal Thai Embassy is shut on 13 October, from 19 to 22 October and from 9 to 11 November. Private offices often give fewer days off than the government, so plan around the leave you have.

Where can Nepalis go without a visa?

Singapore. Nepal is not on Singapore's list of countries whose citizens need a visa. Carry a passport valid for six months and a ticket out, and fill in the free SG Arrival Card online within three days before you land. Ask your airline to confirm when you book. The flight is direct and takes about five hours. November is one of Singapore's rainiest months, so pack for showers.

Maldives. You get the visa on arrival. Bring a return ticket and a prepaid booking at a registered hotel or resort, and fill in the free Traveller Declaration online within 96 hours before you land. Children need their own passports. There is no direct flight from Kathmandu, so the journey takes most of a day each way, and October and November are rainy. See our Maldives trips.

India. You need no visa and no passport, though you should carry your passport or citizenship certificate, and photo ID for children. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur are dry at this time of year, and Varanasi is a 50-minute direct flight. Skip Delhi right after Diwali on 8 November, when the air is usually bad.

Which visas can you still get in time?

Sri Lanka. The online travel authorisation is free for Nepalis, and you apply before you fly. The catch is the weather: this is the rainiest time of year.

Bali. There is no visa on arrival for a Nepali passport. You apply online, and most e-visas come through within five working days. You need to show US$2,000 in funds. Late October is still dry and the rains start in November. There is no direct flight. See our Bali trip and the Bali visa guide.

Bhutan. The visa takes about five working days. It costs US$40, plus a fee of US$100 per adult per night, so four nights come to US$440 before flights, hotel and the compulsory guide. The flight to Paro takes an hour, and the skies are at their clearest.

Vietnam. The e-visa takes three working days. Hanoi and Ha Long Bay are good from November. Skip central Vietnam around Da Nang, which floods at this time of year. There is no direct flight.

Is Thailand still possible?

Yes, for Tihar. You apply online, then hand in a bank manager's cheque at the Royal Thai Embassy on a working morning. The embassy needs a "minimum 7 working days" after that and advises applying a month ahead. That is too tight for Dashain unless you already hold a visa.

For Tihar week, get the application and the cheque in before 17 October, and book flights you can change. Bangkok and Pattaya dry out in November. Phuket and Krabi stay rainy until the middle of the month. See the Bangkok and Pattaya trip, the Thailand visa guide, and Bangkok and Pattaya against Phuket and Krabi.

What about Dubai?

Dubai needs more lead time this year. The visa comes through an airline, a hotel or a licensed agent, and Nepali applicants also need a Nepal Police clearance report. Plan it for Tihar or later, and pay for flights only after the visa is approved.

What should you tell us to get a quote?

  • The dates you can leave and the date you must be back.

  • How many people are travelling, and the ages of any children.

  • The destination you prefer, or your budget if you are not sure.

  • Whether anyone already holds a valid visa, and whether every passport has at least six months left.

Send these from the contact page or any trip page. For budgets, see the Thailand and Bali cost guides.

Common questions

No. Nepal is not on Singapore's list of countries whose citizens need a visa. You need a passport valid for six months, a ticket out and the free SG Arrival Card.

Not before you fly. The visa is given on arrival if you have a return ticket, a prepaid hotel booking and the online Traveller Declaration.

No. A Nepali passport needs an e-visa before flying. Most come through within five working days.

It is too tight. The embassy needs at least seven working days after your payment reaches it and advises applying a month ahead. Plan Thailand for Tihar or later.

Singapore, Delhi with Agra, or Varanasi. All three have direct flights and no visa to wait for. Bangkok and Pattaya also fit once you have the visa.

Bhutan and north India are dry and clear. Bangkok and Hanoi turn dry in November. Singapore, the Maldives and Sri Lanka are rainy.

India, usually. The flight to Delhi or Varanasi is short and there is no visa fee.

Yes, for every destination here except India, where photo ID is enough.

No. Most of these visas take about a week, so applying in the first half of October leaves enough time. Book flights early, because seats fill up.
