About This Package

Langkawi is an island of beaches, rainforest and limestone hills off the north-west coast, an hour's flight from Kuala Lumpur. This trip goes straight there: you change planes in Kuala Lumpur and stay four nights in one resort near Pantai Cenang, where the beach, the restaurants and the evening street stalls are.

Three half-days are planned and the rest is left for the beach. The cable car climbs to 700 metres on Mount Machinchang, where the Sky Bridge curves out over the forest with the sea and the islands of Thailand behind it. A boat takes you island-hopping to the freshwater lake on Dayang Bunting and a swimming beach on Beras Basah. Another goes through the mangroves of Kilim, past the limestone cliffs and the sea eagles.

The whole island is duty-free, so chocolate, perfume and luggage cost less than on the mainland. Langkawi is at its best from December to March. If you also want the city, Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi adds two nights there.

Practical Tips

Fill in the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card online within three days before you land. It is separate from the eVISA and you need both.
The Langkawi cable car stops in strong wind and closes for maintenance for about two weeks each July. If it is closed on your day we move it to another day of your stay.
The flight to Langkawi has to connect with your flight from Kathmandu. If the gap is too short or too long on your dates, we add a night in Kuala Lumpur and requote.
Langkawi has no public buses. Grab cars work across the island at fixed, low fares, and are the easy way to get to dinner.
