Kuala Lumpur and Cameron Highlands

About This Package
The Cameron Highlands are the hill country of Malaysia: tea estates laid over the slopes in green rows, vegetable and strawberry farms, and days of about 20 degrees while Kuala Lumpur is at 33. Travellers from Nepal will find the landscape familiar and the air a relief.
You spend the first night in Kuala Lumpur, then drive north, stopping at Batu Caves on the way, and reach Tanah Rata in the afternoon after about four hours on the road. The full day in the highlands covers a tea estate and its factory, the boardwalk through the Mossy Forest, a strawberry farm and the market. You drive back the next day for two more nights in the city, with the city tour and a free day for shopping.
This is the trip for someone who has seen the towers and Genting already, or who would rather walk in a tea garden than queue for a ride. The road up has many bends, so it is not the best choice for anyone who gets carsick.

Practical Tips
- Fill in the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card online within three days before you land. It is separate from the eVISA and you need both.
- Nights in the Cameron Highlands fall to about 12 degrees and hotel rooms have no heating. Pack a warm layer.
- The main tea estate visitor centre is closed on Mondays outside school holidays. We plan the highlands day to avoid a Monday, or use another estate.
- Weekends and Malaysian school holidays bring long traffic queues on the one road through the highlands. A weekday visit is far easier.
